Unit History

Capt Dustin C. Miller, a former cadet with then CAP Squadron 1508 in Bedford, started the
Bedford Civil Air Patrol Unit in the winter of 2000. It officially chartered in June of 2000.

With the help of the public and key individuals within the county the Civil Air Patrol grew rapidly
and continues to be a positive program for our youth as well as an emergency service to the county.

Through teamwork within the unit, the Bedford unit has grown to be well respected
as a lead Search and Rescue agency within the Civil Air Patrol and with local agencies
as well. In the past five years, our unit has been activated for over 20 missions.
These missions consist of downed aircraft, missing persons, natural disasters and crash
site security.
