Want to learn leadership skills?

Bedford PA's Civil Air Patrol cadet program could be for you.

The Civil Air Patrol is the volunteer, non-profit auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force.
We have three missions.
  • Develop our cadets
  • Educate Americans on the importance of aviation and space
  • Perform live-saving humanitarian missions
Some of our activities include:

search and rescue Search and Rescue
Training exercises prepare our cadets for real world missions. Cadets & seniors learn map reading, outdoor survival skills and search techniques.

Cadets & Seniors use these skills when we are activated for Missing Persons Search, Downed Aircraft Search or Disaster Relief.

Orientation Flights
Through orientation flights in powered aircraft and gliders, cadets experience flight first-hand. CAP's pilots are licensed by the FAA, follow a syllabus for each flight, and ensure the flight is conducted safely. Orientation flights are free to cadets.

Physical Fitness
Cadets learn physical fitness through group exercises and aerobic activities.

Homeland Defense
On Sept 11, 2001 (911) Civil Air Patrol played a vital role in assisting federal authorities with communications. Today CAP still plays a vital role in Homeland Defense. With CAP aircraft, the CAP provides reconnaissance of Damns, Power plants, reservoirs, etc. and records and reports any major changes.

CAP Aircraft can also be used for Command and Control. By flying overhead the aircraft can have a better visual of teams on the ground and can easily be used as a communications platform.

Encampments
The Bedford CAP Squadron participates in regional cadet encampments with activities in emergency services, engineering, technology, physical fitness, teambuilding and flight training.

The Bedford CAP meets at the Bedford Airport on Monday Evenings from 6 to 8.
